It is truly like stepping back in time: quaint villages beautifully decorated, church fairs, horse-drawn carriage rides, roasting chestnuts, carolers, visits from Santa … Harwich has it all! Beginning December 1st, we celebrate Christmas in the Harwiches and what fun we have! Here is a calendar of the events:

Christmas in the Harwiches: December 1st – 3rd

Santa’s elves are working hard making sure that Christmas in the Harwiches, to be held December 1-3, 2006, is the best one ever!!!!

We have a fun filled weekend scheduled so mark your calendars!

Friday, December 1st – Harwich Port

5:30 PM 3rd Annual Tree Lighting & Carol Sing – Doane Park on Route 28
6:00 – 9:00 PM Stroll through Harwich Port – Merchant open houses, yummy refreshments, music, Rudolph, and entertainment. Not to be missed
6:15 PM Santa arrives at the Harwich Information Center
6:15 – 8:00 PM Pictures and visits with Santa at Harwich Information Center
6:00 – 9:00 PM Horse-Drawn Carriage ride, sponsored by Cape Cod 5, through Harwich Port.

Saturday, December 2nd – Harwich Center

10 AM – 2 PM Brooks Academy Fair – Tabletop Trees – A fun time for all ages!

Saturday, December 2nd – East Harwich

Merchant Open Houses – yummy refreshments, entertainment, raffles and good cheer.

Cape Cod is rich in history and there is so much to see and do to help us connect with our Pilgrim or Native American ancestors. There are wonderful trails through swamps, marshes, along kettle ponds and beautiful beaches. Just the other day, someone found an arrowhead and another person found a very old coin both while walking along trails and beaches in Harwich.
How about visiting Plimoth Plantation, a re-creation of a Pilgrim village and Wampanoag homesite. You will really get a feel of what life was like during the very first Thanksgiving! They also serve dinners (unique re-creations of 17th century cooking) at this plantation, but reservations are a must.
